About Us:

The inspiration to create Rustic Rook Resort started in September of 2017 when the founders, Annette and Judah decided to move to Colorado and start something new. They chose Colorado because of the beautiful mountains and all the outdoor recreation opportunities that they did not have in Illinois where they were born and raised. The idea started out as a campground – but after a 12,000 mile road trip touring many campgrounds and RV parks across America, looking at land in a variety of places, almost purchasing a small RV park in South Fork, loads of research and so much more – Rustic Rook Resort turned into what it is today. Annette and Judah wanted to create a place that included all the best things about camping without all the trouble and mess required when going traditional tent camping. A place with only 30 glamping tents (smaller than most) which allows for a more personalized, unique experience focusing on quality over quantity. A place where you can relax, unwind, and spend more stress free, quality time with the people you love.

Rustic Rook hosted its first guests on June 3rd 2020 and was the first glampground in the San Luis Valley. Since then we’ve had people return each year and have loved hearing about their new adventures and seeing their families grow each year.

Rustic Rook is independently and 50% veteran owned. Instead of pursuing funding from investors Annette and Judah decided to build and develop Rustic Rook the old fashioned way – with their own blood, sweat and tears. With Annette’s commercial project management construction experience and Judah’s on-site construction experience they had the prefect combination of skill sets to complete and continue to develop the property. Each year they review the post-stay surveys sent out and incorporate guest suggestions in their improvement plan as they continue to invest in making Rustic Rook even better.

Our dream moving forward is to create more lodging options to meet the needs of different types of people and extend our season so that people can enjoy staying near the park year around. Our grain bin glampers that are scheduled to be available this year, along with camper rentals, and a few BYO tent sites are the beginning of our new mission. We love unique places to stay, and have a few more ideas cooking :).
