Glamping tents vs. Traditional Lodging

Are you Glamping tough? Make sure glamping is for you

Our version of glamping is a cross between your traditional lodging (like a hotel room) and camping (like with a tent). Imagine if Miss Hotel Room and Mr. Tent fell hopelessly in love and despite their families warnings about their different lifestyles, got married and had a child. That child is Glamping at Rustic Rook. Glamping has lots of its mother’s comforts, but still has lots of its father’s life on the edge, minimalist, adventurous lifestyle. Since glamping did not inherit its mother’s climate controlled airtight space, her TV or her electricity, you could get hot, cold, or have desert insects wander into your tent. Thankfully, Glamping did inherent its father’s camp stove, starry nights, lanterns, and USB power chargers so you will still be able to stay warm on the chilly nights, watch the stars instead of the TV, and able to charge your phones to stay in contact with friends/family as much as you would like to.

Other lodging options

If a glamping tent's not your groove

New in 2024 - we added a new entrance with a few new lodging options! You may now choose from one of our 5 BYO Tent sites, 3 Camper Cabins or a Grain Bin Studio Villa. Each new lodging option has a slightly different list of amenities, so be sure to read through the descriptions under the "lodging options" page. We're excited to offer more ways to stay!

What I liked most about Rustic Rook

"Getting the "camping" experience but with the comforts of a toilet, shower, wood stove, etc. Staff was friendly, smores were fun. Loved being close to the Sand Dunes but feeling like we were in the middle of nowhere."

Erin

What I liked most about Rustic Rook

"Easy check in, great service, amazing views of sand dunes/ mountains, love that fire logs and starter kit was included. The whole experience was awesome for a first time glamper. You felt like you were tent camping in luxury! "

Jeff

What I liked most about Rustic Rook

"The play/picnic area - what a perfect place for families to hang out. Also all of the little details like the meal packs, nightly smores, breakfast burritos (which were the best I ever had), the fire wood and fire starters, having sleds and beer for sale, the live music, even the cute chairs to sit in inside the tent. So well thought out!"

What I loved about Rustic Rook

The stars were amazing to look at, the bed was very cozy and there was more than enough space for a couple. Accommodating check-in when arriving late, and the bathrooms were very well kept and clean, and nice hot water. Breakfast was delicious, good amount

What I loved about Rustic Rook

The accommodations were great, spacious and comfortable. The communication was great and the staff was very friendly. Loved the burritos and the smores by the ire. Great place to feel you are in the wilderness as camping but more amenities

Pamela

What I loved about Rustic Rook

We loved this place. Everywhere there were thoughtful touches to make our stay pleasant. Cornhole and horseshoes for kids plus s’mores and a bluegrass band over a campfire; well-equipped communal bathrooms with private showers; chairs inside the tents and out; electric lanterns and external batteries for each tent; lighted walkways for nocturnal trips; sand sleds of different sizes to rent. We grilled our own food one night and bought their grill pack the second night. Also the Adventure lunches especially the veggie wraps were delicious. And fabulous views of the Sangre de Cristo to the east, the San Juans in the west. Convenient to the Sand Dunes and other attractions of the San Luis Valley. This was a memorable vacation for 3 generations of our family.
